Shotcrete is a simple and effective method of rendering a high-quality finish in commercial and residential projects. Simply put, shotcrete or “mock rock” walls are made by spraying and pneumatically projecting concrete onto a surface at high velocities.
Shotcrete can be sprayed onto any surface, including vertical and overhead areas. Over the years, it has become an important construction tool in civil construction, mining, and excavation projects.
We have used shotcrete in Sydney on several occasions. For example, we worked closely with the designers and structural engineers of a residential block in Southern Sydney. An underlying water pipe burst, and mass saturation caused the connected house’s structural integrity to fail over time. The crib wall gradually began to fail and moved towards the home.
Crib wall remediation was done around and inside the existing house using piles, micro piles and difficult access drilling techniques to install cable anchors.
The final stage of the project was the construction of a 250mm concrete wall.
The project was successful, and we eliminated the risk of further damage.
