A local road adjacent to a low lying stream had become unstable, with just one lane being assessed as safe for use. The project required specialist skills and materials to stabilize the area and then rehabilitate it to guarantee an effective, long term solution.
GSS has worked closely with Coffs Harbour City Council on several North coast landslip sites where the local terrain and heavy annual rainfall has required a range of special techniques, materials and equipment to solve the challenges this combination of factors create.
Soil nailing, including the use of Glass Fibre Reinforced plastic (GFRP) soil nails was just one of the specialist techniques employed on this project. GSS then constructed a Gabion retaining wall on the low side of the road to ensure stability and allow the widening of the road as well as tying the wall back to the soil.
Completed on time and budget.
